My Fellow Optimist Members,
Last week I spoke of the generosity of our membership offering shelter to those of us who were to be effected by Hurricane Matthew. We greatly appreciated that.
Now, I must ask you to help one of our own.
Tom Middleton, a long time and very active member of the Grand Strand Optimist Club, was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer of the Kidney. Due to complications with the disease, Tom is unable to make the 100 mile trip to Charleston where he would receive most of his care through the VA. He must instead be looked after here at the Grand Strand Medical Center. While a lot of his expenses are covered by Medicare and gap insurance, there are substantial expenses that are not being covered and are being billed directly to the Middletons. I’m sure you can only imagine what this type of care costs.
The Coast Ski and Outing Club and the Carolina Forest Happy Hour Optimist Club are partnering to raise money in several ways.
One, you can send a check directly to the happy hour club in care of W.R. Burton, 730 Main Street #309, North Myrtle Beach, SC, 29582. Ray is the Sec/Treas of the Happy Hour Club. Make checks payable to the Carolina Forest Happy Hour Club (501c4).
You can send money anonymously via http://tom-middleton.siterubix.com/ . All major credit cards accepted.
You can have your own fund raiser and send the procedes to the Happy Hour Club.
And the last is you can either, sponsor a hole, sponsor lunch, sponsor an activity or play in the “Let’s Party” Golf Tournament at Wild Wing Plantation on October 31st, 2016. That’s great Vicki, Thanks. I’ll add you to our update list and keep you informed about the help we will need Sunday and Monday (Oct 30th and 31st) to set up and run Tom & Dee’s Benefit tournament. Right now we are asking for Golf teams to play and business or people to sponsor a “Hole”, if you could spread the word around and this website address, that would be a great help now. 🙂
